Making a replacement key for a Toyota is a three stage process:

• 1A new key blade (either a traditional car key or a laser remote control flip key) must be cut accurately to unlock the doors and fit the ignition.
• 2Coding the transponder into the ECU or immobiliser system. All car keys must be electronically paired to the vehicle, so when you turn the ignition the car recognises the key. Most new vehicles use a ‘rolling code’.
• 3TThe remote fob (if opted for one) needs to be synced to the vehicle as well in order for the central locking to work.
